Consisted of two creative processes (writing & video making), Video Essay takes the dialogue and re-interpretation between the two creative media as a basis for the transformation of experiences and observations of the city into art works. Each video artist is paired with a writer, either the video artist or writer finishes his/her work first which become the subject of the partner’s to explore the images and culture(s) of Hong Kong.

The fresh green colours are chemical to highlight the “refreshment” of idea with interactive creation between video (artist) and essay (writer).

Typographic experiment inspired from cityscapes

Typography, the fundamental element of graphic design, is the starting point of visual perception on paper. Constructing typographic forms is similar to the process of constructing architecture in that they are both based on a structure of verticals and horizontals. Similarly, they express a language with which mankind communicates.

In this project, I have chosen to study temporary cantilevered structures as evidence of how humans manifest visual perception between both architectural and typographic forms - linking the design of the built environment to methods of visual communication. My work transforms the possibilities of a generic form by highlighting its potential in situ. Inspired by the spatial experience of observing cityscapes, I developed a typographic form based on the way we perceive space: through the constant change of light and shadow. An infinite array of possible forms proves reminiscent of our experience of space and subjective observations made through varied movement. The purpose of my efforts is to study of the inter-relationship between the two disciplines.

This is album package design for the Garman electronic band NEU! It is a brief from the sound design workshop and competition held by British Council.

Neu's music is simple, natural, creating evocative soundscapes that are stimulating rather than tranquilizing. Sugarcoated melodies are balanced upon driving almost hypnotic beats.

The continuity of absolute Neu! music similar as an endless line stretching in our mind. Their music is full of hidden message by metaphysical approach. To visually present this metaphor, it simply to use some “graphic icon” composed and extracted from the hand sketches which recorded the experience when I listen to their music. It is the immediacy record from the energy of music rhythm. It’s translating the abstract idea through unconscious visual driven by music.

The graduation show CD-Rom of The Chelsea College of Art and Design. The design simply presents the idea of using short name of the course title “MADE”, as well as the showcase of “what we have made”. Within the limited budget, the halftone and one highlight colour(shocked orange are used to point out the meaning of “ “. The fall-plan and title of work are designed with clear hierarchy and well communicate.

Book is accumulated Fragments. All visual are conceptually one-picture in as much as total, not the individual drawings or photographs. Each pages compounds time, memory and specific images to create one compound concept. It is the communication vessel to me, it involved time and space
.On my mind, it could be my “private sculpture”.

From the process of searching to utilize, it has involved our memories and evidence of “experience”, “Interaction” and “inspiration”-The books can emphasize physical transition. The imagination can literally construct of its dimension.
